A satisfying F1 driving game for racing game lovers.

The game may be good for hardcore racing game fans, but it not going to blow your socks off otherwise. The aim of the game is to win an F1 race. Create your profile, choose the level of difficulty you want, and start racing.

A Racing Game That Looks Dated

The game is not a 2D game, but it has that feel to it. The game is a little more advanced than it looks on screenshots. There is a certain level of perspective that makes driving feel a little less like a very old arcade game.

A Game That Reminds You Of The Past

Forget things like grip, wind resistance, and most of the other elements you see in modern racing games. It feels like a 2D game, but elevates itself above it a little by allowing you to see some of the track and allowing you to gradually overtake other drivers. You do not have to worry about skidding out or breaking too hard. It is more like the sort of game you may play on the Mega Drive II, or maybe a low budget game on the PSX.

The Tunes Are Awesome

The music on the game is awesome. There are some great rock pieces on the game with some great guitar solos. The music is the best thing about the game; it is otherwise mediocre compared to the games we have today.

Collect Balls As You Drive

Collect coloured balls as you race around the track. By the look of the ways the balls are placed, it is possible that the developers wanted you to follow their line when driving the track. The balls are laid out so that you hit the corner with the correct positioning and ride it out as you would if you were a real F1 driver. This is a nice touch and certainly teaches gamers how to take the corners at the highest speeds, but it would have been better if they had added a challenge with the balls. They could have put the balls in really inconvenient positions so that the driver has to compromise their position in the race in order to get them.

Watch For The Arrows

There are road turn warnings that flash up as you are about to hit a corner. These are a necessary evil due to the fact the game is not 2D, but still doesn’t give you enough of a view of the road ahead. The arrow flashes up just a second before you have to make the turn.

Pros

  • Great music
  • A nice time killer
  • Aimed at racing fans

Cons

  • Modern games offer so much more
  • Becomes repetitive quite quickly
